If you have a cat you'll know that it takes a lot of time and dedication. One of the key aspects to your cats health is that his or her living environment remain clean - especially the litter box. If you're like me you are a good cat owner and constantly keep your litter box clean. However, many cat owners often get tired of constantly scooping up the waste from the litter box and look for another alternative. One product you might want to consider is the self-cleaning litter box. But, is it right for you?


Firstly, please keep in mind that an automatic kitty litter will be more expensive than the traditional box. Furthermore you will have to pay for tray and kitty litter replacement from time to time. That said, the unit should make your life much easier.

Secondly, make sure you keep the receipt when you buy your unit. It's possible that your cat won't take well to it as some cats are scared by the noise. Also, it's possible that you won't like the noise either. Make sure you understand the seller's return policy before making your purchase.

Thirdly, make sure you follow the manufacture's instructions regarding the type of kitty litter you use as this could effect the machine. Usually self-cleaning units require either crystal or clumping litter.


Lastly, cat's are finicky and sensitive creatures. Remember that while they are very adaptable animals getting used to any sort of change takes time. While he or she might not seem to like the self-cleaning cat litter at first after a few weeks it could be smooth sailing. Just be patient and both you and your cat should be very happy together!
